The Cortex Research Group: Our Approach to User-Driven Product Design

At Cortex, we believe the only way to build truly industry-leading products is by working in direct partnership with the people who use them every day: our customers.
Our Approach to Design Research
We're driven by a passion to push the sports industry forward, and that commitment is embodied by the Cortex Research Group, our dedicated process for embedding collaborative customer feedback directly into our product design and development lifecycle. Understanding what our customers want, need, or recommend is the first and most critical step in designing any new product or feature here at Cortex.
How do we do this?
In the last week of each month, we conduct a focused call to give specific customers the opportunity to share feedback, try a prototype, or simply show us how they use the platform.
During the calls, users might be asked to demonstrate how they currently use Cortex, try out a new feature prototype, or simply talk through a suggestion or an idea they have. This process of direct, consistent dialogue ensures that every feature we build is validated by real-world needs.
Quote from Matt Hui, Senior Manager, Product Design:
“We set up the Cortex Research Group to hear directly from our customers. Our customers know our products inside out and often provide helpful insights to us about their use. Formally integrating them into the product design process ensures that we can continue to create products and features that have the biggest impact.”
Why we do this
Our goal is to ensure our customers can serve their fans and partners with ease, helping sporting organisations reach their commercial and engagement goals efficiently. The insights we gather from speaking with our customers inform and guide all of our new features and improvements to the Cortex platform. This isn't just about collecting data; it's about embedding a collaborative spirit into our product development cycle.
