Role Overview
Built for sport, Cortex is a business that connects data, content and commercial inventory, elevating the fan experience and generating new multi-channel revenue opportunities for rightsholders.
Cortex is a young business with enormous potential. We are scaling a Software as a Service (SaaS) company to become the leader for the sports industry. We have an impressive and committed shareholder group, a highly driven executive team, and smart and capable colleagues across the business. But we are only just getting started.
Our goal is to build the leading Fan Data Platform (FDP) for the sports industry, and in doing so deliver on the long-held ambition of rights owners, clubs and leagues to understand, engage and monetise fans. We are already well on the way, with our products already being used by leading sports properties all over the world. But there’s lots more we want to achieve, and we’re in a hurry.
Reporting to the Managing Director, we are seeking a commercial leader with the energy and drive to match this ambition.
This role has a global remit, although the preference is for the role to be based from London or New York.
As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will have responsibility for all revenue generating activities for the Cortex business globally.
This includes three pillars (approximate % of value and therefore time dedicated to each pillar):
- Partnership Sales (40%)
- Over the next three years over half of our revenue will come from strategic partnerships. This is our most important revenue channel, and the VP Revenue will be responsible for growing and nurturing this network.
- Direct Sales (40%)
- We will also grow out our already successful direct sales capability, selling directly to end-user customers, but also working collaboratively with partners.
- Marketing (20%)
- We operate in a niche market, but it is critical that we have a clear and powerful message for the market, so that strategic partners and customers alike understand who we are, and what we are about. But marketing must generate leads and revenue.
