Job Description

Role Overview

Built for sport, Cortex is a business that connects data, content and commercial inventory, elevating the fan experience and generating new multi-channel revenue opportunities for rightsholders.

Cortex is a young business with enormous potential.  We are scaling a Software as a Service (SaaS) company to become the leader for the sports industry.  We have an impressive and committed shareholder group, a highly driven executive team, and smart and capable colleagues across the business.  But we are only just getting started.

Our goal is to build the leading Fan Data Platform (FDP) for the sports industry, and in doing so deliver on the long-held ambition of rights owners, clubs and leagues to understand, engage and monetise fans.  We are already well on the way, with our products already being used by leading sports properties all over the world.  But there’s lots more we want to achieve, and we’re in a hurry.

We are seeking a passionate and hands-on Partnerships Director to build our channel partner strategy and own the implementation of this, in close conjunction with our Sales, Customer Success and Product teams.

The Partnerships Director will play a crucial role in developing and executing the company's indirect sales strategy. This role requires a unique blend of strategic thinking, leadership skills, and business acumen.

Key Responsibilities (estimated % of time spent on task)

  • Channel Strategy Design and Development (20%)
    • Develop a clear and effective channel strategy that aligns with Cortex's overall business objectives, including revenue growth, market share, and customer satisfaction
    • Identify target markets and ideal partner profiles
    • Create go-to-market plans for different channel types (e.g., resellers, system integrators)
    • Input into channel marketing initiatives that drive demand and generate leads
  • Partner Recruitment and Onboarding (20%)
    • Identify and source potential partners aligned with Cortex’s ideal partner profile and business objectives
    • Negotiate and agree mutually beneficial partnership agreements
    • In conjunction with the Customer Success team, design and implement effective onboarding processes to ensure partners are set up for success
  • Partner-led revenue generation (40%)
    • Relationship management: build and maintain strong relationships with key partners at a senior level within their organisation
    • Opportunity Identification: work closely with partners to identify joint opportunities in the market, regularly generating qualified leads via partners
    • Sales Enablement: ensure partners have the resources, skills and knowledge they need to represent Cortex in the market, including an understanding of the products, value proposition, and competitive landscape. Work closely with the Customer Success and Product teams to input into partner training programmes and certification if required.
  • Performance Management and Optimisation (20%)
    • Establish metrics and targets to measure channel performance and identify areas for improvement
    • Set KPIs and targets for channel partners and ensure partners comply with ways of working and contractual obligations
    • Implement improvement initiatives to optimise channel performance

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience:
    • 3-5 years of experience in sales or channel management, with a proven track record of growing indirect sales channels
    • A deep understanding of the sales process, partner relationships, and the intricacies of channel management
    • Demonstrable experience in growing revenue through channel partnerships, ideally in a SaaS environment
    • Previous experience in the sports industry (either sales or customer side) is highly desirable
  • Strategy:
    • strong strategic thinking and business acumen to develop and execute a comprehensive channel strategy
  • Communication:
    • Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to articulate value propositions to key stakeholders.
    • An ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Leadership:
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and lead a high-performing partnerships team
  • Network:
    • Established network of contacts within the sports industry that can be leveraged to grow partnerships and sales.
  • Team ethic:

  • Number of qualified leads generated via partners
  • Return on Investment (ROI) of partner programmes and initiatives
  • Partner satisfaction and engagement rates, including metrics such as partner retention and satisfaction scores
  • New partner acquisition rate and quality of new partners
